They All Saw a Cat

One of this year's Red Clover books is They All Saw a Cat by Brendan Wenzel. It took a few pages before students realized that the cat featured in each page is always the same cat but seen from different perspectives. Once they understood the structure of the story, students enjoyed describing the relationship between each page's illustrative style and the various animal perspectives.  Here for example is the cat as seen by a fish and then by a mouse.

 

After reading They All Saw A Cat we thought the best thing to do next would be to, well, draw a cat. Here is Mr. Young's class rendition:
