Kindergarten Technology

Kindergarten has had a few weeks now of coming to the library and getting their hands on our iPads! At this point in the year the main goal we have during our tech time is to develop safe and responsible habits around using shared digital devices. This includes everything from safe handling, following directions, asking for help, and trying something new and/or challenging.

We start our year with the fun task of taking a selfie. This helps students take an active responsibility in the care of our shared devices, demonstrate the ability to follow direction, and yielded pretty sweet outcomes.

Next we explored a drawing app with the goal of drawing a self portrait. We talked about changing colors to represent our eyes, skin, lips, and hair. Students did their best to navigate the app and knew when to ask for help, either of a friend, or of me. They also persevered through making mistakes and challenged themselves whether it was in the details of the portrait or writing their name. The results are fantastic.
