Hour of Code

Computer Science Education Week is December 5th - 11th and to celebrate, Waitsfield students will join the over 100 million students worldwide and participate in The Hour of Code™. Computer Science contributes to innovations in medicine, business, and the arts. It impacts the way we relate with our environment, other cultures, and with each other. By participating in The Hour of Code™ our students will engage in one of the most in-demand 21st century skills and get a glimpse at an enormous world of possibilities.
And we aren’t stopping there. This year, by partnering with Project Lead The Way, students in grades K through 6 will study and engage in an in-depth Computer Science unit. Whether they are creating animated stories in ScratchJr., coding a video game in Hopscotch, or programming a robot through Modkit for Vex, our students are engaging in real world hands-on learning opportunities.

"The Hour of Code is designed to demystify code, to show that computer science is not rocket-science, and anybody can learn the basics," - Hadi Partovi, founder and CEO of Code.org.
